Mathematics is an essential skill, laying the foundation for logical reasoning, rational thinking, analysis and problem-solving. However, it is often an intimidating subject for many. We, at Navnirmiti Eduquality Foundation, believe Mathematics can be made easy to grasp if taught in the right way. This would require system-wide reforms, schools as changemakers, innovative and reflective teachers and encouraging self-learning among children.
Learning Mathematics is like learning a new language. Teaching children this new language requires a more learner-centred approach to build a strong foundation. The conventional approach is often difficult to understand and uninteresting, developing a distaste or phobia for this essential subject.
Navnirmiti Eduquality Foundation has formulated a teaching methodology for Elementary School that can make learning maths an enjoyable and interesting process. Applying our Do, Discover, and Learn approach, we have devised the ‘Active Math Learning Class’ environment, which includes a variety of Math kits, games and learning materials for an activity-based learning experience. The class lays emphasis on learning through observation and self-discovery to mould a curious and creative mind and lay the foundation for critical thinking and problem solving.
The ability to apply this knowledge to real-life situations
Application of mathematical concepts for problem-solving
Developing a favourable attitude towards the subject
Development of logical thinking
Development of Objective thinking
Ability to self-construct knowledge
Our Math Lab concept pulls out the boredom from Learning and adds an element of surprise so learning mathematical concepts is fun. With the Do and Discover approach, children are immersed in games, puzzles and problem-solving so the learning is faster and retention is strong. Essentially, the Math Lab is a space designed for children to learn mathematics through activities, experiments and hands-on experience.
Our Math Fairs are designed to engage both teachers and students, with the goal of promoting quality math teaching techniques and tools. By fostering a collaborative learning environment, these fairs provide students with hands-on opportunities to engage with mathematical concepts, thereby enhancing their confidence and competence. Teachers participate as mentors, while students take on the role of co-facilitators, creating a dynamic and interactive educational experience.
Each Math Fair sees an increasing number of teachers and students adopting Navnirmiti’s innovative pedagogy for math learning. This initiative aligns with Navnirmiti Eduquality’s mission of providing "Quality Math For All," ensuring that high standards in math education are accessible to everyone.
